With a Battle of the Bands raging on, ROCK your nights away @ Kublai's every Saturday from 7pm to 11pm. Amateur bands can compete for cash prices and trophies and gain experience and exposure in the process. Although a sound system and instruments are provided, participants are required to bring their own guitars, bass guitars, cables, drumsticks, family and friends. Jazz Nights @ Kublai's is every Monday from 8pm to 12 midnight. Featuring the JAZZPHIL Ensemble with Deo Arellano on vocals and flute, Butch Silverio on trumpet and flugelhorn, Aya Yuson on guitar, Dave Harder on acoustic bass and Richie Quirino on drums. Cool-jazz, Latin-jazz and classic jazz standards presented in a smooth and enjoyable way is what to expect. One hundred pesos at the gate plus a free beer is all it takes to enjoy the night away. Mag:net Café Jazz Nights Launched in October

Wednesday nights will be Jazz Nights starting October at Mag:net Café Katipunan in Quezon City. Entering its 6th month of operation, Mag:net Café has become a venue for musical gigs, poetry readings, indie film showings, theater, experi- mental music, art foraas well as art exhibitions and book launchings, making it a parallel cultural venue to the universities and schools clustered in the area.

Scheduled to perform for the Mag:net Jazz Nights are Brass Munkeys-October 5, Balooze-October 12, Salindiwa-October 19, Affinity-October 26. Mag:net Café is open from Monday to Saturday and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its nightly gigs starts at 9. Also to perform at Mag:net Café Katipunan in October on other nights are the likes of Mishka Adams, Cynthia Alexander, Karl Roy, Dong Abay among others and bands like Indio I, Drip, Sound and Blow. The stand up comedy duo of Tim Tayag and Allan Manalo are on Thursdays. Poetry readings, film showings and experimental music are on Mondays. The highly successful Lee's Nights on Tuesdays continues, its host and organizer icon Romeo Lee has lined up for the month an interesting list of performances by university-based and start-up bands which sometimes include surprise jammings by well-known bands and well-known personalities from Pepe Smith to Julia Clarete. Mag:net Café is located along Katipunan Avenue in front of Miriam and Ateneo beside Rustan's Supermarket.
