Academy had a 25% increase in enrollemnt this July. Newly added were male and female vocalists that fit right in with the instrumentalists, giving the combos an added dimension. Three outstanding students from Texas received financial assistance from that state's art foundation and played key roles in many of the ensembles.
Both the city of Taipei and the government of Taiwan were new sponsors this year. Opening night found the faculty on stage at the Taipei City Auditoruim with a full-house. The workshops were held at Shih-Chien University with the final concert being held in one of the beautiful downtown Taipei parks where over 500 heard both the small and large ensembles.
Faculty for TIJSA were from Europe, the US, and Asia. Many of those enrolled at the last workshop, and one said, "I'll be here every year as long they will have me."
